Privacy policy
Who we are. Post & Present ("we", "us") operates the website and services at postandpresent.co.uk. We provide a way to buy digital gift cards, add a message, video, or audio, pay securely, and send a gift link to someone else. Texts and emails may use our short link, pstpst.link. That link is ours. Opening it brings the gift back to this website.
Data controller. For personal information described in this policy, Post & Present decides how and why it is used. When a gift card is issued, Neo Currency LLC may also decide how some of that information is used, or handle it for us. See "Who else receives information" below.
Where we keep information. We store customer accounts, purchases, gifts, uploaded video, audio, and photos, and the records we need to run the service in the United Kingdom, using Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL. We do not deliberately keep this core information outside the UK. Some of the organisations below may handle a limited amount of information under their own policies, including outside the UK. Where we can, we choose UK or European options and require appropriate protection.
What we collect and why
- Account — Your email address, and the details needed to sign you in, including if you choose Google or Facebook. We use this to protect your account, show your gifts, and meet legal duties.
- Purchase — Your email, the gift amount and currency, the shop you chose, how you want it sent (email, text message, or a link you copy yourself), when it should be sent, and your message. We use this to complete the order and support you as the buyer.
- Gift and redemption — A short gift code, the amount, your message, any video or audio, and, after the gift is claimed, the recipient’s email, the shop, and the details of the issued card. The gift page is built so the recipient does not see who bought it. We use this to deliver and redeem gifts and to prevent fraud.
- Payment — When you pay on our site, GoCardless Ltd handles the payment. We keep the confirmation and the references we need to complete the gift. We do not keep your full card or bank details. If a purchase is paid through a connected business chat, Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. may handle that payment instead.
- Media you upload — Video, audio, or images for gifts and optional thank-you replies are stored privately in the United Kingdom and shown only to the people who should see them.
- GIFs — If you add a GIF, your browser may load it from Giphy, Inc. Their own policy then applies.
- Analytics — Only if you accept. Google Analytics records which pages are visited and a rough location, such as the country. See our Cookie notice. We do not use advertising cookies.
- Business connections — If you connect a business account so gifts can be arranged from another service, we store the details needed to recognise that connection and the requests it makes.
- Running and protecting the service — Records of visits, cookies (see below), and similar information so the site works, stays secure, and we can fix problems. Emails we send may record whether they were delivered, opened, or a link in them was clicked, so we can tell that a gift or account message arrived.
Cookies
We use cookies that are needed to sign you in and keep the site secure, including while you sign in with Google or Facebook. A gift you start is tied to your account from the first visit. After you add an email, you can sign in on another device. These cookies are required for the service to work.
Cloudflare, Inc. delivers the website and may set a cookie, or use your IP address, to block harmful traffic. That protection stays on even if you decline analytics.
If you choose Accept analytics, Google Analytics records which pages are visited and a rough location, such as the country. We save that choice in this browser so we can respect it next time. You can change it from our Cookie notice. We do not use advertising cookies.
Why we are allowed to use your information
Under UK data protection law, we rely on:
- Contract — to provide the gift you ask for, take payment, issue the gift card, and send it;
- Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, prevent abuse, see that messages we send arrived, improve reliability, and support customers (balanced against your rights);
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law;
- Consent — when you choose Accept analytics in our cookie banner. See our Cookie notice.
Who else receives information
We share personal information only as needed to run the service, under contracts that require appropriate protection:
- Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL — hosting, storage, email, text messages, and sign-in, in the United Kingdom.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — delivers the website and blocks abusive traffic. Also used for our short links at pstpst.link.
- GoCardless Ltd — payment on our website.
- Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. — payment when a purchase is made through a connected business chat.
- Neo Currency LLC — issuing the digital gift card after payment (YourDigitalReward).
- Google LLC — optional analytics if you accept, and sign-in if you choose Google.
- Meta Platforms Ireland Limited — sign-in if you choose Facebook.
- Giphy, Inc. — when you add a GIF to a gift.
We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
We keep information for as long as we need it to complete gifts, handle support and legal claims, and meet accounting or legal duties. We then delete it, or remove the details that identify you. Gift and payment records may be kept longer to prevent fraud or for an audit.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, or to object to certain uses. You can also ask for a copy to take to another service, and you can withdraw consent, for example for analytics. Contact hello@postandpresent.co.uk. We will respond within one month in most cases. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Security
We protect the service with encrypted connections (the padlock in your browser), secure sign-in cookies, private links for video and photos, checks when you buy and when a gift is redeemed, and limited access to our systems. No method of sending or storing information is completely secure. Please use a strong, unique password and keep gift links private.
Children
Our service is intended for adults purchasing gifts. If you believe we have collected a child's personal data without appropriate consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date at the top of the legal page will change and, for material changes, we may notify you by email or a notice on the site.
Terms and conditions
These terms govern your use of Post & Present. By creating an account, purchasing a gift, redeeming a gift, or otherwise using the site, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The service
We provide a way to buy digital gift cards for UK shops, add a personal message and optional video or audio, pay, and send a link by email, text message, or a link you copy yourself. The recipient opens that link on our site and receives the gift card for the shop you chose.
Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding contract in the United Kingdom. You must provide accurate information and keep your account credentials secure.
Purchases and payment
- Prices and available brands are shown during checkout; you are responsible for entering the correct amount, recipient details, and delivery method.
- Payment on this website is handled by GoCardless Ltd. Payment through a connected business chat may be handled by Stripe Payments UK, Ltd. Until payment is confirmed, we do not issue the gift card.
- On a test or preview version of the site, payment may be simulated. Use a real recipient’s details there only if you mean to.
Gift cards and third-party terms
Digital gift cards are issued by the relevant retailer or programme operator through Neo Currency LLC (YourDigitalReward). Each card is subject to the issuer's terms (expiry, exclusions, balance checks, etc.), which we do not control. We are not the issuer of the gift card and are not responsible for a retailer's refusal to honour a card except as required by law.
Delivery and links
Gift links use a short code (for example /g/HKXT4N9R). Anyone with the link can view limited gift details; redemption requires email verification. You are responsible for sending manual links only to intended recipients. Scheduled delivery is handled by our systems; delays caused by carriers or incorrect contact details are not guaranteed refundable.
Refunds and cancellations
Once a gift card has been issued after confirmed payment, cancellation or refund may not be possible except where required by UK consumer law or at our discretion for clear errors or fraud. Contact support promptly if you made a mistake before issuance completes.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- use the service for fraud, money laundering, or illegal purposes;
- upload unlawful, harassing, or infringing content in messages or media;
- attempt to bypass security, copy the site in bulk, or misuse the connections we offer to other services;
- resell or systematically exploit gift codes without our written consent.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that breach these rules.
Cookies and measurement
We use cookies that are needed to run the service. Cloudflare, Inc. delivers the site and may set a security cookie to block abuse. That stays on even if you decline analytics. Optional Google Analytics runs only if you accept it in the banner. Your choice is saved in this browser and can be changed from our Cookie notice.
Connected services and business accounts
If you connect another service or a business account to Post & Present, keep any access keys private, follow the rules that apply to you, and use only information you are allowed to use. We may withdraw that access if it is misused.
Intellectual property
We own or license the site, branding, and software. You retain rights in content you upload but grant us a licence to host, transmit, and display it as needed to provide the service.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is" to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law. Subject to that, our total liability to you for any claim arising from a single purchase is limited to the amount you paid for that purchase.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts in England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights in Scotland or Northern Ireland where applicable.
