Sainsbury’s Fuel

A little help with the journeys that matter

Give someone you care about a hand with their next fill-up. A Sainsbury’s Fuel Payment Card puts money towards petrol or diesel, helping with an everyday expense and leaving a little more room in their budget.

Whether they’re driving to work, taking the children to school or visiting family, it’s a thoughtful way to make the week ahead a little easier.

A practical gift that shows you care

Sometimes, you know exactly what would help someone: a contribution towards the things they pay for every week.

Fuel is one of those costs. For someone who relies on their car, filling up is part of keeping daily life moving. Helping with that expense can mean one less thing to budget for, particularly when money is stretched or other bills arrive at once.

A Sainsbury’s Fuel Payment Card gives you a simple way to offer that support. You choose how much to give, and they put it towards the petrol or diesel they need at a Sainsbury’s petrol filling station.

It’s a useful gift with a personal message behind it: “I’m thinking of you, and I’d like to make things a little easier.”

There for the everyday, and the unexpected

You might be helping a son or daughter with the commute to a new job, supporting a friend through an expensive month, or contributing towards a loved one’s regular journeys to care for family.

It can also be a lovely thank-you for someone who’s always doing the driving. The lifts to appointments, the station pickups and the journeys to see you all take time and fuel. Putting something towards their next tank is a practical way to show your appreciation.

There’s no need to wait for a birthday or special occasion. If you know a contribution would be welcome, that’s reason enough.

Easy to use for their next fill-up

The Sainsbury’s Fuel Payment Card is specifically for petrol and diesel at Sainsbury’s petrol filling stations, as the fuel card rules set out.

Your recipient fills up as usual, then presents the card to the cashier at the kiosk. Pay@Pump takes chip and pin, and Sainsbury’s lists fuel cards among the cards the pump does not accept. They can use the balance across more than one visit, with any unspent amount staying on the card for another fill-up. Their remaining balance appears on the till receipt.

If you’re choosing this for someone, checking that there’s a convenient Sainsbury’s petrol station nearby is a helpful first step.

Make your support personal

With Post & Present, you can add a message or a short video and choose when your gift arrives. A few words are all it takes to explain the thought behind it.

A little something towards your next fill-up. Hope it makes this week a bit easier. Lots of love.

Keep it simple, warm and in your own words. You know the person you’re buying for, and what they’ll appreciate hearing.

A few limits worth knowing

What can a Sainsbury’s Fuel Payment Card buy?

Sainsbury’s says all categories are excluded from the Fuel Payment Card except petrol and diesel, and that petrol and diesel are accepted at Sainsbury’s petrol filling stations.

Can it be used in the supermarket?

No. The fuel terms say the card is redeemed only in Sainsbury’s petrol filling stations. It is not accepted in Sainsbury’s supermarkets, Locals, Neighbourhood stores, or online.

Can they use it at the pump?

The Pay@Pump page says only chip and pin cards are accepted there, and lists fuel cards among the cards the pump does not take. The fuel card is presented to the cashier.

What if they do not spend it all at once?

Sainsbury’s says if the whole balance is not spent in one visit, the rest stays available, and the balance is printed on the till receipt after each use.

Is this the same as a Sainsbury’s gift card?

No. Sainsbury’s says a supermarket gift card cannot buy petrol or diesel. Only the Fuel Payment Card does, and only at Sainsbury’s petrol filling stations.

Help with the next tank

Turn a thoughtful intention into something they can use. Choose a Sainsbury’s fuel voucher and give someone you care about a little support for the road ahead.
