We are bringing ordering back online on Tuesday 3rd November. Our gift card partner has been having issues, so issuing has been paused until then. We deeply apologise. There are no problems with our system. We will refund anyone who has bought a card during this time, so please get in touch at hello@postandpresent.co.uk.

The Aldi gift card

The weekly shop, with a little something extra.

The Saturday list. The fruit they build dinners around. The nicer thing they pick up because the week has room for it. An Aldi gift card is for the person whose ordinary shop you could almost write from memory. They spend it in a UK Aldi store, on the ranges they already walk, and the choice of what goes in the trolley stays with them.

This is also a good purchase when you want to help a loved one do their shopping. It is not only a gift for a birthday or another event. It can help with ordinary living costs: the food they already buy, and the household things that run out in a normal week.

Explore the ideas

Your message. Their next shop. You choose the morning it arrives.

You can picture the shop.

You know the person who keeps the household fed, or the one who texts a photograph of whatever has appeared in the middle aisle. Start there, rather than with a product you would have to guess.

The guesswork stays out.

Nappy size, the pudding they fancy, and this Thursday’s Specialbuy are all decisions that go stale if you make them. A card leaves those calls for the person holding the list.

It outlasts one visit.

If the basket costs less than the card, what is left stays on it for the next shop. Aldi’s terms give a standard gift card five years from the day it was purchased.

On their site, not this week’s leaflet

Three ranges that are always the point.

Aldi’s homepage moves. A pumpkin display, a price drop, and a heater in the middle aisle are gone by the next visit. The ranges underneath are the ones worth giving. Each line on the receipt opens the live page, where the current products actually sit.

Middle aisle

Specialbuys

This is the part of Aldi people describe to each other. Specialbuys are sold in store, with new lines on Thursday and Sunday, and they finish when they finish. The published range runs from kitchenware and garden furniture to sport and camping. The leaflet shows what is in this week and what is booked for the next. Buying the object yourself is the risky version of this gift. The thing they wanted may be the one arriving on Sunday, or it may already have gone. A card lets them look, then go.

A better Tuesday

Specially Selected

Specially Selected is Aldi’s own line for raising an ordinary meal. The range page puts it plainly: elevate the everyday, and skip the hefty price. Think a better piece of fish, a pudding, something for the middle of the table that still belongs in the same shop as the milk. The named products change. The gift is the permission to choose whichever one is there when they are, for a birthday supper or a week that deserves a small upgrade.

The practical half

Super 6

Super 6 is six fruit and vegetable lines at a lower price, changed about every fortnight, with no loyalty card to join. Aldi describes the produce as award-winning and points shoppers to a Fresh Guarantee if a piece is not right. For someone who plans dinners from what looks good, this is the useful heart of the gift. The apples and the peppers rotate, so send them the Super 6 page rather than naming this week’s six.

The bathroom shelf

Lacura

Lacura is Aldi’s own beauty range. The brand page describes skincare, serums, shampoos, and conditioners as a way to look after yourself for less. It suits the person who restocks the bathroom on the same trip as the fruit, and would rather choose the moisturiser than receive one picked blind. Prices and the exact lines move. The range page is the stable place to start.

A new parent

Mamia

Mamia is the baby range: nappies, wipes, and meals. Aldi presents it as a way to make parenting easier, with nappies made for a faster change and meals for the high chair. Someone with a baby is already in that aisle, and they know the size and the stage better than you do. A card is a week of those repeats, chosen by the person who is counting them.

The drinks aisle, if they want it

Beers, wines, and a bottle for the table.

Aldi’s drinks pages cover beer, wine, spirits, and a no-alcohol and low-alcohol selection. This gift card can pay for them along with the rest of the shop. It cannot pay for other gift cards, lottery tickets, or scratchcards, and it cannot be handed back for cash. If you need a card that stays out of the drinks aisle entirely, that is a different Aldi product. This one is for the whole UK store.

For the one with the list

You already know who this is for.

They are the person who does the shop that holds the week together. A partner. A parent. The housemate who notices when the oats have run out. You can see the trolley. What you cannot see is which Specialbuy they have been waiting for, or whether this is a week for the ordinary shop or the slightly nicer one.

An Aldi gift card covers that whole spread. The big trolley, the Lacura they are nearly out of, the Mamia size you would get wrong, and whatever has just landed between the cereal and the seasonal aisle. You contribute the amount. They decide what the week needs. Send it now, or choose the morning it should arrive, and add a short video if a sentence is too small.

For a Thursday. Or a birthday.

The part that comes from you

Put their shop into the note.

Name the meal they cook on repeat, the aisle they slow down in, or the fact that you are glad they handle it. The card is the shop. The note is how they know you paid attention.

Words you might write.

For the big shop, the nice bits, and whatever is in the middle aisle this week. Happy birthday.

A little note. A gift that feels like them.

A proper thank-you. “For the lists, the bags, and the fact that dinner happens. This one is for your next shop.”

A new baby. “For the nappies, the wipes, and whatever else the week needs. Choose the size. We will handle a shop.”

The useful details

Ready for their next shop.

These answers follow Aldi’s own gift-card terms and the help centre. The card they receive is the final word on the numbers.

Where can they spend it?

In any Aldi store in the UK. A card in pounds is for those stores, and Aldi’s terms say it cannot be used in the Republic of Ireland. They show it to the cashier on a phone or as a printout. The help centre also says that if there is nothing to scan, the cashier can take the card number at the till. It is a store card. It is not spent at an online checkout.

Can it go towards a bigger shop?

Yes. If the basket costs more than the balance, they pay the difference another way. Aldi’s terms describe that remainder as payable by an alternative means. Your gift can be the contribution, and their shop can be larger than the card.

Can they use it over more than one visit?

Yes. If the shop costs less than the balance, what is left stays on the card. Aldi’s help centre says an e-gift card can be used on as many visits as they like, until the money is gone. The terms say the same about a remaining balance.

How long do they have?

Five years from the date the card was purchased. After that, Aldi says any amount still on it is forfeited. The terms mention a one-year limit only for Mamia gift cards, which are a different product from this one.

What can it not buy?

Other Aldi gift cards, third-party gift cards, lottery tickets, and scratchcards. It cannot be exchanged for cash, change, or a different voucher. Drinks, food, Specialbuys, Lacura, and Mamia in the UK stores are within the shop it is meant for.

Picked with them in mind

Their next shop.
A little of you in the note.

Give them the card, and a line that shows you know which week it will land in.
