We are bringing ordering back online on Tuesday 3rd November. Our gift card partner has been having issues, so issuing has been paused until then. We deeply apologise. There are no problems with our system. We will refund anyone who has bought a card during this time, so please get in touch at hello@postandpresent.co.uk.

For Shopify shops

Install the Shopify app

These steps are for the person who runs the Shopify store. You install Post & Present from the Shopify App Store, then publish the gift cards and place them on the cart and the pages a buyer sees after they pay.

Before you start

  • A Shopify store, and permission to install apps on it.
  • Your company’s legal name and Companies House number, or a Post & Present payment reference if you already have an affiliate account.
  • The bank details in the app, so you can transfer the face value of the gift cards you plan to sell.
1

Open the app in the Shopify App Store

Sign in to the Shopify admin for the store that should sell the gift cards. You need to be the store owner, or a staff member who is allowed to install apps.

Go to Settings, then Apps, then Shopify App Store. Search for Post & Present and open the listing. If we sent you an install link, open that link instead.

If you look after more than one store, choose the store that should sell the gift cards.

2

Install and approve access

Click Install. Shopify shows the parts of your store the app uses. It adds gift card products to your catalogue, and it reads orders so a paid gift can be prepared.

Click Install again to approve that access. Shopify then opens Post & Present inside your admin. You can return to it any time from Apps, then Post & Present.

3

Create your Post & Present account

In the app, find Account and branding. Enter your legal name and Companies House number. If you already have a Post & Present affiliate account, paste its payment reference instead and leave the company fields blank.

Logo URL, primary colour, and accent colour are optional. They are used when the gift is shown to the buyer and the recipient.

Return URL is optional. Use a page on your own shop, such as a thank-you page, if you want buyers sent somewhere specific after they finish.

Click Create account. If the account is already there, the button says Save branding.

4

Add the money for the gift cards

The Balance and top up section shows your payment reference, plus the account name, sort code, and account number.

Transfer the face value of the gift cards you expect to sell, and use that payment reference on the transfer. A gift is issued only after the transfer is credited.

The top of the app shows the commission rate and the amount payable for this period.

5

Publish gift cards into your catalogue

Under Gift products, search for a brand and tick the ones you want to sell. You can publish up to 12 at a time.

Click Publish selected. Each brand becomes a product in your Shopify catalogue, named with the brand and “gift card”. Each product has four amounts: £10, £25, £50, and £100. They are active straight away and do not need shipping.

6

Show a gift card on the cart

In the Shopify admin, go to Online Store, then Themes. On your current theme, click Customize.

Open the cart template. Add the app block named Gift card offer.

Set the heading and the button label, and choose the gift card product you published. Click Save.

Show the personalising link after checkout

Go to Settings, then Checkout, then Customize.

On the Thank you page, add the Post & Present block named Gift setup. On the Order status page, add the same block. It gives the buyer their setup link. The recipient gets a claim link later.

Leave App origin as https://postandpresent.co.uk. Click Save.

After a buyer pays, that block offers a button to personalise the gift. If the order has an email address, we also send “Finish your gift” with the same link. The recipient opens it, adds a message, and collects the gift card.

Your customers’ name and email

Installing the app means the shop agrees to our privacy and data protection agreement for shops. From a paid order we receive the buyer’s name and email. We use the email to send the setup link, and the name to tell which buyer the gift belongs to. We do not ask Shopify for an address or a phone number.

A buyer asks the shop. The shop asks us. Email hello@postandpresent.co.uk with the shop’s myshopify.com domain, whether you want a copy, a correction, or erasure, and the buyer’s email and name. Include the order name or number if you have it. We reply within one month in most cases.

Where to find it again

In Shopify admin, open Apps, then Post & Present. Recent gifts are listed there, with the setup link for each paid order. The recipient gets the claim link later. Questions about the install can go to hello@postandpresent.co.uk.
